Tried this suggestion. I also get that message whenever I play an Mpg file, but even though it says error downloading codec it will stil play the video file. While typically they are in uncompressed PCM format, there are other codecs out there, and it is likely this wav file you are trying to play is using one of these Windows Media Player Not Playing Wav Files Windows 7 I'm learning to search the web rather than calling them.
