There are also times when you will be told that the file name/address is too long. Finally I go to file and the option there is greyed out. I can post more detailed instructions if you want to try Option A or B.

I had the same problem with XP - if I selected a file in Explorer and tried to immediately rename or delete I'd get access denied. NOTE: When opening TM all I had was the services window with the option to show processes from all users and the "End Process" button! Make sure your name has Full Control.
